I have seen and heard about serial connections running at 10G, 12G, 16G, 20G, and 40G in the past year or so, some over copper. It is clear that this march up the frequency curve will be with us for the foreseeable future, and harbors some difficult engineering problems.

We have all read and heard tales about a slowdown in military/COTS spending in the first part of 2006. According to new information, we turned the corner in Q-2 of this year, and MIL/COTS spending is increasing.

VITA speaks on ex ante IP procedures
VITA recently revealed that the organization is formalizing procedures for ex ante Intellectual Property (IP). According to VITA, ex ante means “anticipating changes in the business environment” and, when established, should “minimize and eliminate many patent issues that could affect our VSO standards, our members, compliant products, and our customers in the future,” says VITA Executive Director Ray Alderman.

Business Communications Company has released preliminary information on the markets for cooling technologies on chips, boards, and chassis for 2003 to 2008 (forecasted). I have included the numbers in a chart below.
