Sunnyvale, CA--- February 19, 2012 ---PCI-SYSTEMS Inc., a leading supplier of conduction cooled VPX systems, announces a totally new design approach to VPX backplanes to deliver PCIe Gen2 and Gen3 speeds for any backplane topology.
The backplanes have a rear I/O cartridge type PCB assembly that allows easy customization of ANY backplanes with ANY Open VPX profiles in a fast and inexpensive manner.
Switches and other hardware are placed on mezzanines allowing an extremely small Rear I/O assembly that can be exchanged extremely fast and is conduction cooled using wedgelocks that clamp the cartridge to the chassis walls.
Since the backplane is passive, low layer counts are possible and all MESH or STAR topologies are moved to the rear I/O mezzanines.
These backplane assemblies are used on all PCI SYSTEMS chassis including Vita73, Vita48 and Vita77 chassis.
